Andy Bleaden has been working since 2002 as Funding and Programmes Manager for the Stockport Council. There he specialised, among other things, in Adult Social Care,Robotics, Telehealth and Telemedicine. He also formed alliances with pan EU Age/Seniors related groups and recently with the EIP on Active and Healthy Ageing. In addition, he has also been working as an External Expert Evaluator and Reviewer for the European Commission since 2013 for: FP7 and Horizon 2020 Health, Personal Health Calls PHC20 Advancing Active Healthy Ageing and PHC26 Self-management of Health and disease. More recently he has been working with the EIT on the new Health KIC and also working as an expert on the new Urban Innovation Actions as an expert. He has a long experience in Health and Social Care as well as housing and in Stockport is closely involved with both Social Care and Economic Development as well as area of Silver Economy. He has over 20 years’ experience in the Social Care/Housing Field

Before that he worked as Community Regeneration Manager for the Willow Park Housing Trust and there secured funding for large capital and revenue programmes from the Home Office and EU including ERDF funding. From 1992 to 1997, Andy in the housing field helped set up Manchester’s First Foyer for St Vincent’s Housing for young homeless people and build strong local links around employment. He started his career managing a Mentally Disordered Offenders Project where he worked with mentally disordered offenders returning to communities from long psychiatric hospitals and prisons.

Stockport is based in Greater Manchester with a population of 280,000. Stockport Council are a strong collaborator in Europe with experience of working in cooperation with many European projects around the area of Active and Healthy and as part of our commitment we have signed up to as part of the recent Covenant on Demographic. Andy has brought Stockport into several key EU wide networks such as the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) ECH ALLIANCE and CORAL all of which have a large impact.
