Title: SYNTHESIS OF SOME NOVEL 1,3,4-THIADIAZOLE DERIVATIVES AS POSSIBLE ANTICANCER AGENTS

Abstract:

Objective: The objective of the study was to synthesize series of 2-[bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]-N'-[5-substituted phenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl]acetohydrazide  and evaluated for their possible in vitro and in vivo anticancer activity against DLA cell line.

Method: 2-[bis(2-chloroethyl) amino]-N'-[5-substituted phenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl]acetohydrazide have been synthesized by chlorination of 2-[bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]-N'-[5-substituted phenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl]acetohydrazide with phosphorous oxychloride and phosphorous pentachloride (7a-7f).

Results: The synthesis of the targeted compounds were (7a-f) confirmed through their MP, IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectrum studies.Compounds 7a and 7d showed considerable anticancer activity against DLA cell line for the invitro and invivostudies.

Conclusion: It may be concluded that the presence of nitro and chloro phenyl substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazoles showed significantanticancer activity.
