Biography: Dr. Ivi Chakraborty studied B.Sc. Agriculture from Pune Agriculture College, under MPKV, Rahuri, then completed M.Sc in Horticulture from Institute of Agricultural Science in Ballygunj Science College under Kolkata University, thereafter came to this esteemed University to avail her Doctoral degree. She started her professional career as an apprentice under NWDPRA Project of Govt of West Bengal and posted in Canning 1 Block during 1995. Joined Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, India as lecturer (Research) in AICRP on PHT of Hort Crops as scientist in 1997, joined in the Dept of PHT of Hort Crops & became Professor in 2012. She published 50 research papers out of which 16 are in International Refereed journals. She has also written 4 book chapters, three extension booklets and numerous popular articles and handled more than six research projects, out of which three projects as Principal Investigator. She is now associated with 2 projects as PI (in the BARC, Mumbai sponsored Mega project under Regional Nuclear Agriculture Research Centre’ on ‘Radiation technology for shelf life extension of horticultural perishables’) and Co-PI (IFAD-ICARDA sponsored project ‘Enhancing lentil and lathyrus productivity and utilization in West Bengal’). She supervised five Ph.D. students and twelve M.Sc Students, 2 Ph. D continuing, one has already been submitted. Received 6 best poster award, Prestigious ‘J S Pruthi -2016’ award from AFST(I), CFTRI, Mysore and ‘Inspiring Women Scientist Award’ from SMAGRA Vikas Welfare Soc., Lucknow. She has also developed low cost post harvest handling protocol and value addition of litchi fruit, diversified utilization of under exploited fruits and vegetables, post harvest handling and value addition protocol of mango cv. Lakshmanbhog for promoting it as an export cultivar using Gamma irradiation and suitable packaging, development of some convenient, low cost and fortified food from fruits, fermentation of locally available fruits for preparing wine. She is also an expert on ‘Food Processing’ Modular Employer Scheme (MES), under Dir. Gen. Employer and training (dget.nic.in), Govt. of India in the year 2010.
