Luigi Anastasia graduated from high school (Liceo Scientifico "A. Antonelli") in 1993 with the final grade of 60/60. In the fall of 1993 he moved to Pavia for his undergraduate studies in Chemistry at the University of Pavia, where he graduated in July of 1998 with the final grade of 110/110 (GPA 29.7/30.0). 
As an undergraduate, he was also an alumnus of the University in Pavia. He spent his 4th year of undergraduate studies at Purdue University as an exchange student, with the TASSEP (Transatlantic Science Students Exchange Program) program. He started his research career at Purdue University in 1996, working with 2010 Chemistry Nobel Prize Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi. After completing his undergraduate studies in Italy, he went back to the USA at Purdue in August 1998 for his Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry, with Dr. E. Negishi that he completed four years later, in 2002 with a GPA of 4.0/4.0. After completing his PhD, at the age of 27, he moved back to Milan to join the University of Milan as Assistant Professor in Biochemistry. Since 2010 Dr. Anastasia is Associate Professor of Biochemistry. In 2010-2011 Dr. Anastasia was also appointed “Visiting Associate Professor” at Harvard Medical School, Boston. Since 2008, Dr. Anastasia is also directing the “Laboratory of stem cell for tissue engineering “at IRCCS. He is currently teaching Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Milan.
