Biography: Dr. Praveen Kumar Gupta is currently working in the Department of Biotechnology, Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering, Bengaluru, India. He has a B.Pharma degree from U. P Technical University, Lucknow, an MTech. degree in Biotechnology from Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore India. and a PhD in field of Environmental Biotechnology from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum Karnataka, India. His research areas are in Waste Management, Environmental Science and Food & Agricultural Plant Science. Before joining the PhD program, he had worked as a Scholar in the area of government vaccine surveillance program in association with Johns Hopkins Collaborative Centre Lucknow. He has over 10 years’ experience in teaching and research having expertise in subjects such as Biopharmaceuticals, Clinical Biotechnology & Environmental Technology, GMP and GLP, Human Disesease, Health Informatics and Chemoinformatics. He completed his research area in the field of the prebiotics and their production from organic waste materials. The improvement in the probiotics numbers sincerely correlated with low possibility of the development of breast cancer and colon cancers. He employed this as an opportunity to produce a prebiotic compound such as Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) by utilizing the fruit waste and using simple extraction method with minimum investments. This gave him an opportunity to apply a patent on “Xylooligosaccharides Production Method by using orange peels”. He has also published more than 32 papers which include four book chapters in the national and international scopes indexed, peer revived journals. His publications focus mostly on organic waste management, drug development, vaccine technology, cancer cell lines and related adjuvants, computation biology, immunology and non-invasive method to develop a biosensor. He has got over 120 citations in the Google Scholar citation Index.
