Title: Biomarker Discovery and Translational Cancer Research

The ultimate goal of cancer biomarker discovery is to understand the mechanisms involved in carcinogenesis to improve patient’s outcome. Our lab has identified several cancer biomarkers useful in risk stratification, prognostication, cohort selection, and end-point assessment in clinical trials. In addition, we have made substantial progress in nutrition research with an attempt to understand how dietary phytochemicals prevent cancer through modification of the epigenome and signal transduction pathways affecting gene expression. The presentation will provide an overview of my work performed for over a decade in the area of biomarker discovery and nutrition research and its translation from bench to bedside.
