Current chair of bio-instrumentation track and assistant Professor of Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Neurology and Dermatology at Wayne State University, was a postdoctoral-fellow at Washington University in St. Louis in 2012. Completed his Ph.D. at the University of Kent with an outstanding postgraduate student honors. Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with honours in Electronics Engineering. As a faculty member, recently awarded the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Engineering School of Wayne State University. He was also awarded the “Best Lecturer Award“ at Azad University of Karaj for excellence in teaching higher education. Holds his Post Graduate Certificate for Higher Education master’s degree in higher education teaching from the University of Kent. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, design/implementation of photoacoustic imaging technology (trained by Professor Lihong Wang, a pioneer in photoacoustic technology) and optical coherence tomography (trained by Professor Adrian Podoleanu, the world’s leader in OCT) for biomedical applications.

Received 6 research grants/fellowship as principal investigator. Mentored more than 20 graduate students in engineering and medical disciplines. Published more than 50 first-authored peer-reviewed articles in journals such as PNAS, Applied Optics, Journal of Biomedical Optics, Optics Letters, IEEE PTL, and Modern Optics, with a Google Scholar citation of 560 and h-index of 14. Delivered 14 keynote, plenary, or invited talks. Presented at several conferences across the globe, such as IEEE, MICCAI, MIUA, MVIP, as well as Photonics West. Peer-reviewer for PNAS, PLOS ONE, MICCAI, Applied Optics, Optics Letters, Optics Express, and Journal of Biomedical Optics. Served as a member of the technical program committee for the IEEE ICIP, ICACCI and MICCAI for the past several years. Served as an associate editor for Applied Optics Journal, Current Trends in Biomedical Engineering & Biosciences, Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Research, and International Journal of Biological Instrumentation.
