Lalith Amaralal, presently working as the Principal Scientist of socio-economic and marketing and head of the same department at National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) since 1997. He obtained his four years Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Honors Degree in 1993 from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka and Master of Science in International Fisheries Management in 2004 from the University of Tromso, Norway. Later in 2009 earned post graduate diploma in Fisheries Policy and Planning from the United Nation University in Iceland and presently reading his PhD at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is also serving as the national coordinator for IODE and he is the member of National Committee on socio-economic and policy analysis at Centre for Agricultural Research Policy in Sri Lanka. In 2006, he was awarded a Gold medal for the best presentation in fisheries in an international symposium and have contributed to and published many research publications nationally and internationally in his field.
